Thanks to Ty Pope, senior at Edgewood Jr. Sr. High School, more than $6,000 was raised to help fund some suicide awareness benches for our communities! Ty set out to do his senior project around suicide awareness and prevention, and wanted to help Do It for Hunter. He found out about Do It For Hunter when he was at a track meet last year. We were set up there handing out free bracelets and stickers, and he’s been wearing his You Matter bracelet ever since. While he had run many 5Ks, he had never organized one, and he quickly found out that it wasn’t as easy at it looked. Countless phone calls, paperwork, permits, insurance, it was a lot. But with the help of his family and friends, he pulled it off, and had over 100 runners register. We are so proud of Ty and thankful for all his efforts to not only help raise funds for our non-profit, but for helping to share the You Matter message with the community. More people than ever are learning about the 988 Suicide Crisis Lifeline, and it’s helping to save lives. Thank you Ty for an amazing event and we wish you the best in whatever your future holds!
