Saving One Life At A Time because YOU MATTER

You Matter Day 2024!

It was an amazing day of hope, sharing resources, and allowing people to learn ways they can get help when they are in a dark storm. The messages were all around the island…messages like “You Are Loved,” “You Got This,” “Don’t Give Up,” “Progress Not Perfection.” Schools, businesses, churches all jumped in and gave our community the feeling of love and positive vibes. It showed what a small town can do for their people.

Thank you to every business who opened their doors and were a scavenger hunt participants. Thank you to our donors who gave dollars, and thank you to the businesses who donated prizes. Our Superintendent Dr. Rendell, School Board Member Jennifer Jenkins, and Principal Mrs. Miner all risked life and limb in the dunk tank, and our Student Government students at MIHS helped direct cars, pick up trash, and kept the activities going at MIHS. Thank you to ALL the schools that participated including Edgewood Jr. Sr. High, MIHS, Audubon, Stevenson, Lewis Carroll, Jefferson and Merritt Island Christian School! Thank you also to the following Mental Health Resources who were on hand at MIHS.

  • Brevard Prevention Coalition, Women’s Center, Space Coast Health Foundation, 211 Brevard, TWLOHA

We are already planning for next year!

Thank You To Our Sponsors!

I truly enjoyed the event. I attended last year as well. I can tell you it is a daily struggle for me personally. I remember last year hearing about the event and it was a battle with myself about getting up and out of the house and doing the scavenger hunt along. But the message of “You Matter” was the reason I did it! I had to remind myself that I indeed mattered and getting up and out of the house was just what I needed. I enjoyed it so much last year that I asked a friend to join me this year. We enjoyed driving to the different locations and finding places that I drive by every day and never knew about. I had a cousin take his life and I have friends who struggle with mental illness as well. It is not something that is openly talked about. You help make it a little easier to talk about. Thank you.
